Oblique Strategies was created by British musician Brian Eno and his artist friend Peter Schmidt as a tool for addressing difficulties in the creative process. The "difficulties" were framed in the form of one hundred worth- while dilemmas and evocative phrases, each suggesting a way to approach problems in a new light. Published in the form of a deck of cards, they could be shuffled, drawn and dealt in patterns to facilitate their use in a variety of ways. Oblique Strategies has been translated into Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish, Russian and Arabic.
