Roy Lichtenstein is one of the best known Pop artists. His acclaimed paintings that recreate the imagery and look of comic strips and advertisements are very different from their original sources. He changed the image by enlarging and isolating the subject to create an emotional centerpiece for the work. During his career, Lichtenstein explored numerous styles and subjects; he created sculpture and nonrepresentational works, but always used thick lines and the bold primary colors that were his signature.
