Mariana Botey Biography Mariana Botey was born in Mexico City in 1969, she graduated in 2000 with an MFA from the University of California, Irvine Studio Art Department Program; and in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts from Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design in London, England. She is a working artist in the media of experimental cinema, video installation and video documentary. Her work has been shown in the Guggenheim Museum in New York and Bilbao, The Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, The San Diego Museum of Art, The Museo Carrillo Gil in Mexico City, Red Cat Theater at the Disney Hall in Los Angeles amongst many other museums, galleries and festivals. And she has been a guest speaker for the Nation magazine, CALARTS, the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh PE and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. Also she has worked as a curator of exhibitions and screenings, done editing and writing for catalogs, translated, published, and in the last years taught at the University of Southern California. She is currently at the Ph.D. Program in Visual Studies in the University of California, Irvine. |
