Biography

Currently working out of New York City, Adia Millet was raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California. She earned a BFA with a minor in education, from the University of California, Berkley, and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. Upon graduation, Millet was awarded the prestigious Whitney Museum Independent Study Program fellowship. Her work has been exhibited in over thirty shows nationally and internationally since 1999, and reviewed in the New York Times, Art Forum, and Art in America. She has served on a series of panels and symposiums and given lectures at several museums and colleges. Her artwork confronts issues such as race and gender, in addition, to exploring a variety of subcultures.
