“Slips”
I will install a series of small objects, papers, drawings, videos, and books that document and represent my studies of Freud, the unconscious, and their appearances in history and the present. These studies were initiated four years ago in pursuit of gaining a further understanding of the role of the unconscious in the everyday. The resulting artworks show a “digression” from documenting dreams to more research-based study of Sigmund Freud and moving towards a more abstract and formal investigation of the existence of the unconscious. The installation, constructed as a small room within the larger gallery, will present the stuff that was collected, made, and re-made in this study of Freud and of dreams.
