The Villa-Lobos International Chamber Music Festival, an event conceived by the cellist Lars Hoefs  in collaboration with UCR Professor Paulo C. Chagas, celebrates the music of Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959) and other Latin American composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.  The Second Villa-Lobos International Chamber Music Festival 2016 has a special emphasis on the Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera (1916-83) for his 100th birthday year.


This concert is dedicated to the friendship between Ginastera and Villa-Lobos featuring emblematic chamber music works by both composers performed by Bridget Dolkas, violin; Lars Hoefs, violoncello; and Mark Robson, piano.

Heitor Villa-Lobos: Choros No. 5, for piano (1925) "Alma Brasileira" (Brazilian Soul)


Alberto Ginastera: Pampeana No. 2, for violoncello and piano, Op. 21 (1950)


Heitor Villa-Lobos: Trio for piano and strings No. 3 (1918)
